Public bug reported:
When compiling the kernel following the official instructions
(https://ubuntu.com/kernel/docs/how-to/develop-customise/build-kernel/),
I got some errors (attached in the bug repport). I first tried to get
the source code from git, but I seemed to get an old version as the
changelog was for version 6.8.0 numbat, so I switched to getting the
source code from apt source (linux-image-unsigned-7.0.0-42-generic)
tried compiling that, and that is when it spit that error out. I looked
it up and seemed to find nothing, but as a sanity check I asked chatgpt
about it (to find the keywords to google the problem), and it found this
patch:
https://patchew.org/linux/cover.1777575752.git.jpoimboe%40kernel.org/,
and gave me this link to report the errors.
The output of lsb_release -rd is Description:
Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS
Release: 26.04.
The output of apt-cache policy:
linux-image-unsigned-7.0.0-42-generic:

I compressed the log files as I cannot seem to upload multiple files.
