20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu3.3 -> 0ubuntu3.4 (installed Nov 4; first reboot
Nov 6).
Symptoms: firmware splash and early boot text visible, then no signal on one
monitor and a black screen on the other once amdgpu takes over. nomodeset boots
normally. dmesg shows:
[drm] Loading DMUB firmware via PSP: version=0x07002F00
[drm] Wait for DMUB auto-load failed: 3
[drm] DMUB hardware initialized: version=0x07002F00
[drm] *ERROR* dc_dmub_srv_log_diagnostic_data: DMCUB error - collecting
diagnostic data

[drm] enabling link 0 failed: 15
Likely cause: in 0ubuntu3.4, the DCN 4.0.1 DMUB firmware is a symlink to the
DCN 3.2 firmware:
/lib/firmware/amdgpu/dcn_4_0_1_dmcub.bin.zst ->
dcn_3_2_0_dmcub.bin.zst
So RDNA4 cards load the RDNA3 display firmware, which would explain the PSP
rejection in this bug's title and the DMCUB errors above. Upstream
linux-firmware ships dcn_4_0_1_dmcub.bin as its own file.
Workaround that fixed it here without downgrading the whole package:

sudo cp dcn_4_0_1_dmcub.bin /lib/firmware/amdgpu/
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all
After a cold boot, both displays work, the DMCUB errors are gone, and DMUB
reports [version=0x________].
Suggested fix: restore the real dcn_4_0_1_dmcub.bin in the package (or check
the symlink generation in the split packaging), since this will affect every
RX 9060/9070-series card on noble.
