Public bug reported:

zark is a bare-metal backup and recovery tool for Ubuntu systems
installed on encrypted ZFS. It backs up the system to an external drive
with raw zfs send, so the drive holds only ciphertext, and rebuilds the
system on a new disk from a live USB: partitions, pools, the LUKS
keystore, /boot, the EFI binaries and the initramfs, on the stock signed
Ubuntu boot chain, with Secure Boot on. Every backup is read back from
the drive before zark reports it safe to unplug.

Upstream release: https://github.com/juanmitaboada/zark/releases/tag/v2.2.0
(signed tag v2.2.0, tag object 82d483ba7e2403ea6f6c07ccd5c7db6802ec0393)

Notes for developers:

- Ubuntu-specific: zark supports the layouts Ubuntu's installer creates
(24.04 LTS and 26.04 LTS: rpool, bpool and the keystore zvol; 26.10:
rpool and the keystore, /boot on ext4). Debian's installer has no
ZFS-on-root option, so there is no Debian layout to support and no
  Debian package is planned.
- I am the upstream author and the packaging is mine (debian/ in the
upstream repository). The same packaging has been published in my
PPA: ppa:juanmitaboada/zark, series noble, resolute and stonking.
- Architecture: amd64 (pure Python 3, no compiled code; amd64 because
the boot chain it rebuilds is grub-efi-amd64-signed and shim-signed).
- Depends: python3 (>= 3.12), zfsutils-linux, sanoid, cryptsetup-bin,
  gdisk, grub2-common, dracut | initramfs-tools, rsync, e2fsprogs.
- Tested: the .deb is built and smoke-tested in upstream CI on 24.04,
26.04 and 26.10; the full test suite runs on every commit; releases
are validated on real hardware with zark's own self-test, whose
results are published per platform at
  https://juanmitaboada.github.io/zark/ (2.2.0: an installed 26.10
system and the 26.10, 26.04 and 24.04.5 live sessions).
- lintian, on source builds of the release tree in clean chroots:
silent on resolute and stonking; on noble, newer-standards-version
and recommended-field Priority from its older lintian. At pedantic
  level: older-debian-watch-file-standard and, on stonking,
  package-uses-old-debhelper-compat-version 13. debian/watch is
format 5 on upstream main since 2.2.0 was released (in the next
release's source); debhelper compat stays 13 because compat 14 is
not available on noble or resolute, where the same packaging builds.
- 27.04: not validated yet; the validation run on real hardware comes
  before the upload.
- Source package for review (the PPA's 26.10 build):
