Exact;y the same hit me too with Hardy Alpha 3 (i386-desktop).
I have only 30kB-60kB rate while downloading the updates
(236MB takes a long time, mind you) - but in Feisty/Gutsy
the same PCI card using rt2500pci module gives me a full
speed of 240kB-250kB download rate.
My mainboard is ASUS A8V Deluxe, and the hardware:
# lspci -v
00:0e.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2500 802.11g Cardbus/mini-PCI (rev 01)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. WL-130g
Flags: bus master, slow devsel, latency 64, IRQ 21
Memory at fbb00000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2
PS. I'm writing this comment while the updates are downloading
in the chroot'ed Hardy environment, started from inside otherwise
perfectly working Gutsy installation. :-)
