Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools
To repeat:
1. Boot 7.10 Live CD (i386)
2. Launch network-admin and configure wifi with static IP. Close.
3. /etc/network/interfaces is correctly changed, but iwconfig and ifconfig show
that nothing has been done, e.g. ESSID is not set, and IP address is not set.
4. Relaunch network-admin, change something, close.
5. /etc/network/interfaces correctly modified, and now ifconfig and iwconfig
show that the interface is correctly set up.
The specific somethings I've tried this with are the IP address, and the
WEP key.
Bugs that may or may not be related: 67876, 80219, 160710, 173370.
My wifi is an Intel 2200.
