Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-amd

xserver-xorg-video-amd (2.7.7.6-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * New upstream release:
     + Default depth raised to 16-bit.
     + Several GCC warning fixes.

*****

The change in default display depth actually is of key importance for
LTSP, because the driver previously defaulted to 8-bit depth, which
fails to launch on some Geode-based hardware. 16-bit is a decent default
that both prevents the driver from failing auto-configuration and it
provides a good compromise between memory consumption and picture
quality.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-amd (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
