Public bug reported:
Hi all :)
System:
Ubuntu Feisty
Nautilus 2.18.1
Problem:
Can not delete file:
Error: "not on the same file system"
Scenario:
My (and others) home directory is mounted by automounter. I can browse
create, delete, ... files with nautilus in my home as expected. In the home of
another user I can browse and create files also. But when deleting (with
context menu or by pressing delete key) I only get an error message "not on the
same file system" -> cancel / retry.
It seems that nautilus wants to move the file to Trash and somehow is not
successful. Retry and Cancel is not a good choice here. I found out that
Shift+Del to kill the file works nevertheless.
So I would propose for the dialog to give the user the possibility to
(permanently) remove the file instead of just failing. I expect that only
experienced users know about the Shift+Del hotkey.
Mfg Knut
