Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
This bug is in the 'Find and replace' function of OOo.
When doing a find and replace, if the search word was once manually
modified already and you use find and replace, OOo will duplicate the
replace string at the point where you manually made the changes.
To replicate.
1. Open a word doc
2. Pick a word and manually change the word to your intended replace string.
For example, if you were going to change 'abcd' to 'aBCD', first manually make
the replacement to 'aBCD'.
3. Open find and replace, for the search string type 'abcd', for replace type
'aBCD', check the 'Match case'.
4. Click replace all
At the time of finding this bug I had change tracking on. Also found
this bug because once I had manually made a change to the word, I
figured it would've been all over the document misspelled so I did a
find/replace. All occurrences after I had manually made my change
duplicated, for example, where I would expect to see 'aBCD' I saw
'aBCDaBCD' instead. All occurrences of the word prior to the manual
change was correct 'aBCD'.
Work around was to undo the manual change then use find and replace
again.
