Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: system-config-printer
Steps to reproduce:
open system-config-printer.py 0.7.75
click "New Printer"
Choose "Internet Printing Protocol"
Enter the IP of the printer in the field labeled "Host:"
At this point, the "Forward" button is disabled, so the only choice is to click
"Find Queue..."
A new window comes up that says "Scanning..." and sits there indefinitely.
Trying multiple times, I was unable to set up my printer this way.
However, going another route, I was able to configure my printer:
click "New Printer"
choose "Other" (instead of IPP, which is what i'm still going to be using
anyways)
enter "ipp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" for the URI
continue through the rest of the steps selecting printer make/model/driver
The printer is successfully set up and a test page can be printed now.
So why does this program require me to "Find Queue" (whatever that means, I
already know the IP), when that step is obviously not even necessary when
choosing the alternate route?
And why does it hang and never give a result?
