I have my print quality set to 2 out of 4, With 4 being the best. 2 is only 600 dpi and I still have over 60 seconds in print que for a 4x6 photo print. It sounds like glepore70 has the cups bug also, since lp is using a lot of resources. Take a look at bug 157044 for instructions on how to work around the lp part of your problem. Unfortunately, the gs bug continues.....
