Public bug reported:
I get buffered I/O read errors when trying to read a CD past 60-70%. It
worked fine in Gutsy, but Hardy doesn't like it. HAL detects the drive
as a LITE_ON_DVDRW_SHW_160P6S. The IDE controller is "00:0c.0 IDE
interface: nVidia Corporation MCP55 IDE (rev a1)" according to lspci.
My hard disks are all SATA, and they are not affected. So, I can get
the Hardy live CD to boot and load the desktop (usually), but attempting
to install leads to a frozen machine. I installed Hardy without
problems using a USB flash drive. I have successfully (as far as I can
tell) burned a CD with the drive under Hardy, but verification failed
due to the I/O errors. So, it looks like writes are not affected.
** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
