Public bug reported:

I installed from the hardy 20080131.2 Live CD on a dual boot Windows 2000 and
OpenSuse configuration.
In Partition Manager I deleted the OpenSuse partitions but left the Windows
ones.
I created new swap and ext3 root partitions for Ubuntu on the space freed from
the old OpenSuse partitions and hit Install.
A message appeared "Deleting other operating system files" with a lot of disk
activity.
Ubuntu installed but GRUB no longer showed Windows and the Windows disks appear
empty in the Ubuntu File Browser.
Windows has gone!! Some Linux nuts might cheer but I will have to reinstall
it. Good job my data was backed up.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
