Leann, Thanks for your follow up: I appreciate the links and your candor. Compliments to your support for this issue! Off the record, I have supported Linux, via tech support and, currently, engineering support for a hardware vendor off and on since 1999.
Installing Gutsy was a very pleasant surprise over previous versions, not to mention other Linux distributions: most everything that I have had problems with previously has been handled with aplomb with Gutsy. Very impressive, keep up the good work. I find myself with almost nothing but compliments and recommendations for this distribution. Still there are pointy edges to put out a newbie's eye (or at least make them blink a lot), which is why I decided to update the listed bug. Easy CDROM/DVD burning is high on the list of things that should not be a problem out of the box. In any case, if you can provide any specific reference to fixes in the kernel or elsewhere I will be happy to test out the new kernel or packages. Otherwise I'll review the changes and may do a dpgk -i on the Hardy kernel to see what happens. Suggestions welcome and thanks again, James On Fri, 2008-02-01 at 18:17 +0000, Leann Ogasawara wrote: > Release notes regarding Alpha4 will be posted here: > http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ .
