Further comments on this problem.

By running firefox in a terminal window I can see the error. The Java
implementation is not ignoring the carriage return at the end of the
line in the list of filenames.

This works...

<PARAM NAME="filenames"
VALUE="http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/1.jpg,
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/2.jpg,
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/3.jpg,
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/4.jpg,
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/5.jpg,
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/6.jpg,
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/7.jpg,
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/8.jpg";>

(one continuous string)

but this does not work

<PARAM NAME="filenames" VALUE="http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/1.jpg,
                               http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/2.jpg,
                               http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/3.jpg,
                               http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/4.jpg,
                               http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/5.jpg,
                               http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/6.jpg,
                               http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/7.jpg,
                               http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/wcir/8.jpg";>
All but the first filename is mangled because a "/n" and several spaces are
added to the beginning of the filename.

Regular Sun Java on my windows XP machine executes the applet code just
fine and does not seem to mangle the filenames even though they appear
on separate lines as above.
