Public bug reported:

Icon changing - when is no current icon - of an item sometimes results
into creation of a new directory hierarchy in the Desktop directory. It
is "file:/home/$USER/Desktop" (put the actual user name there).

The toplevel directory in the Desktop directory is literally named file: (with
colon at the end).
It is clearly confused by that missing icon and it misunderstand itself its
"file:" directive then.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
