Apparently notifications do not work for you for some reason. Instead of
papering over this problem in jockey, I'd like to know the actual cause
for this.
Can you please install the libnotify-bin package and run this command in
a terminal?
notify-send hello demotext
This should create a notification bubble. Does that work? If not, can
you please attach the file .xsession-errors (in your home directory),
copy & paste the output of above command, and copy&paste the output of
the following command:
ps aux|grep dbus
