The situation I described is similar to the other bug, HOWEVER what
about NON ext file system troubles? --

I'm using external drives which I have formatted as ext3, but they could
just as easily be formatted as FAT or HFS+ or whatever, and I have seen
no indication that GNOME announces when they have trouble reading or
writing. (In fact when I have had filesystem trouble, the only reaction
I have noticed is that Nautilus got really slow or froze, but I don't
exactly have a test case I can work with.)
