It's possible we may need to switch back to XAA for Hardy due to other
unrelated problems, so this bug is still relevant. Thanks for gathering
the extra info and confirming that it's XAA-specific. (Not sure we have
many options for getting a fix for this if we do switch back to XAA
since upstream no longer supports it.)
