I have the same problem and I have seen it on two 7.10 systems. One with a standard 7.10 install the other is a 7.10 server. I have tried a number of different vga modes (771, 791, 792, 793) and I get no visible output during bootup (just a blank screen) but on the standard system X works fine but CTRL+ALT+F[1-5] gives me a blank screen.
Here is what my grub/menu.list contains. # defoptions=vga=791 I expect you will see this on any 2.6.22 system but I've only tested it with the following kernels. 2.6.22-14-generic 2.6.22-14-server If I add 'splash' to the defoptions I get output. On my server system I don't want the splash screen but I would like a higher video resolution like 1024x768. -- kernel vga mode setting not working with 2.6.22 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184822 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
