Concerning the vesafb part, the ubuntu choice to reject vesafb as a framebuffer driver was not based on nothing. vesafb can probably cause different issues that ubuntu expect to avoid to his final users and adding it will probably not fix the issue for everyone since the problem you describe can be caused by many different things. Also, AFAIK, vesafb is deprecated. I think that you may want to discuss of these matters with ubuntu developers. However, please don't use coarse words like "stupid", this cannot lead to good community work, we need to respect the work of each other.
