Mike, although everything worked fine on the update, i don't recommend for WUBI users to finish by doing a 7.10 upgrade, that shows up in the final update package. to my chagrin, i tried this and the OS collapsed.
it did the installation adding and removing everything necessary for the install, please note although not in log files this install took place on a dell latitude x200 w/256 mg and was clean of malware on the M$ side of the partition. when the install completed and i must say my reasoning for upping to 7.1 was to take advantage of the new notebook controls and plug and play functionality...but what i ended up with was what appeared to be a live install with non operational boundaries on task bar, quick function keys, nothing. but a hard shutdown would fix that. just prior to the load screen completing in gnome x, i saw a dialogue box quickly pass and say "hal error", i know what a hardware abstraction layer is but at this point there was no point in doing much more than removing it as it was a complete lockup. please forward to or add reference links where they should go. thanks -- update manager refuses to authenticate no PW window appears just freezes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188372 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
