Apparently my crashes were caused by a stick of memory that suddenly went bad. It seems strange that the backtrace was always the same (though I also developed kernel panics, etc), but memtest showed many errors, and after locating the bad DRAM and removing it, the crashes went away.
I doubt that everyone else's crashes are caused by bad memory, but if you have time, it's probably worth running memtest (let it run all the tests; only 2 of 7 found errors for me). -- [nvidia] Xorg crashes with /usr/bin/X(FontFileCompleteXLFD+0x1e1) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/165093 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
