I've tried the patch from Sergey's comment
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-gui-tools/+bug/183446/comments/10)
 and it works on 64bit hardys also
As there was no patching system yet in the debian source, I've added a dpatch
patching system to apply the patch

I've attached a debdiff for hardy

and the changelog :

mysql-gui-tools (5.0~rc12-2ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * debian/rules : amended to include dpatch patch system
  * debian : added patches directory
  * debian/patches : added 00list containing 01_schemata_loop.dpatch
  * debian/patches : added 01_schemata_loop.dpatch (LP: #183446)
      linked to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=266781
            and http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=32293
  * debian/roles : changed maintainer as per DebianMaintainerField spec
  * debian/control : added Build-Depends on dpatch
