Binary package hint: nvidia-settings
I had done some things with nvidia-settings, including, I think, saving
my configuration. It worked fine, but when I tried to use it to change
from two screens to one, it told me this:
Failed to set MetaMode (1) 'CRT-0: 1280x1024 @1280x1024 +0+0' (Mode
1280x1024, id: 50) on X screen 0.
Going through dpkg-reconfigure to get a new xorg.conf fixed the problem.
I think that if nvidia-settings changes that file, then it should not
keep itself from working...
