Binary package hint: cupsys
I looked in the configuration file cupsd.conf, and part of it was corrupted:
DefaultAuthType øôc
(it should say DefaultAuthType basic).
Although cups was still working, I had edited cups in the firefox web browser
to turn off logging.
Afterwards, cups wouldn't restart.
Something corrupted the log. Perhaps firefox, perhaps cups.
I have not yet tried to reproduce it.
