Not sure if this is related, but in my upgrade I ended with broken X because this package was installed:
(1) xserver-xorg-driver-ati This package apparently prevented the installation of (2) xserver-xorg-video-ati apt-get was happy keeping (1), no brokenness or abnormal thing was reported after the update. It seems the driver in (1) had a version incompatibility with the xorg server. Manually requesting install of (2) caused removal of (1) and X working again. My first impression is that xserver-xorg-driver-* shouldn't be in the repository anymore but for some reason it is still there. Admittedly, it is a wild idea, I'm not experienced in this. -- Error upgrading to 6.10 from 6.06 i386 https://launchpad.net/bugs/63389 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
