Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Pulseaudio becomes a Zombie that is not killable right when it is
started on my computer. On second boot after Install of Hardy Alpha 4 it
worked until reboot, but ever since then I have just this zombie process
after logging in graphically.

I can start it manually on a tty before logging in graphically and when I start
pulseaudio I get some debug-output.
For it doesn't quit I wasn't able to use tee or gdm like in this tutorial
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace) and couldn't pipe its debug output into a
file :(
All I could do is perform a "hardware" screenshot with a digital camera:

My Hardware is a Asus Pundit2. If I uninstall pulseaudio sound works perfectly.
If you need more information just tell me what to do/try.

Thanks for the good work
