Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openoffice.org-writer
I reported this bug a while back and I can't find it any more, but I
have more details now. At random times and for no apparent reason,
openoffice.org-writer displays the wrong characters when accented
characters are entered. The problem is with displaying them, although
openoffice.org keeps track of which characters they are, so if I cut and
paste into another application or save and open later, they appear
correctly. I'm attaching screenshots of the same series of characters,
the first displayed incorrectly in openoffice.org, and the second copied
and pasted into gedit so you can see what they're supposed to look like.
I have no idea what makes this happen on some occasions and not on
others.
The sequence of characters should look like this:
áéíóú ÁÉÍÓÚ ñãĩõũàèìòùÀÈÌÒÙâêîôûÂÊÎÔÛç
As the attached screenshot shows, some appear correctly in openoffice.org and
others not.
I'm using openoffice.org-writer 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.3 under gutsy.
