Public bug reported: After installing 'uname -a' Linux ast4-lnx1 2.6.22-14-sparc64 #1 Sun Oct 14 21:57:46 GMT 2007 sparc64 GNU/Linux I had no connectivity when I walked around to the back of my Sun Fire v210 I noticed no lights on the connected port. I moved the cable to deifferent v210 running solaris and observed lights meaning the connection was good. When I moved it back to the same port on the original v210 no lights. From there I moved it down the line find that only the third port of the four ports had lights. I then decided to configue eth2 to no connectivty was observed after using ifconfig, so I configured /etc/network/interfaces to reflect my desired setup and rebooted the box as 'services' package was not installed. When the box came back up no lights on the third port. Testing again I saw that I was getting lights on the second port but no others.
After much searching I came up with this article. http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg20279.html After reading I connected Ethernet port 0 and configured eth2. It worked like a charm. snippit from dmesg reporting problems: [ 38.472959] tg3: eth%d: Cannot get nvarm lock, tg3_nvram_init failed.
