Anders,

Try this version to see if I have quirk support for your laptop correct:

wget
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11905813/linux-image-2.6.24-8-generic_2.6.24-8.13ubuntu4_i386.deb
wget
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/11946104/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-8-generic_2.6.24-8.13ubuntu1_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.24-8-generic_2.6.24-8.13ubuntu4_i386.deb
linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-8-generic_2.6.24-8.13ubuntu1_i386.deb

Delete /etc/modprobe.d/atiixp, then reboot. You should have audio with
resorting to the modprobe trick.
