I use the current kernel 2.6.24-7 generic provided by software update.
hibernate has never worked so far

using Hardy Heron (didn't work in Gutsy or Feisty either of course), on
- a HP compaq nx7400 laptop, kernel 2.6.24
+ a HP compaq nx7400 laptop, kernel 2.6.24-7 generic (32bit)
- suspend seems to work basically, but hibernate does not. and there's no
- way to somehow rescue myself once the screen has gone black and there's
- error messages.
+ suspend works. hibernate does not.
