Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-base

My Dell laptop has a G72M [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300] and is
running Hardy, kept up to date with regular upgrades. One of the
upgrades prevented the X-server from restarting (black screen and lockup
when logging out or Ctrl+Alt+Backspace).

I didn't realize the significance until today, but the actual upgrade
happened a few days ago (not longer than a week). I used Update
Manager. One of the updates required a "partial upgrade" because some
ubuntu meta-package replaced nvidia-glx with nvidia-glx new. This
caused the lockups. I manually re-installed nvidia-glx (removing -new),
and the problem went away.

** Affects: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
