Public bug reported:

We have a HP Pavilion dv6544eo Turion 64 X2 TL-56 laptop. It was running
gutsy amd64 version ok, then upgraded to feisty.

After logging in to KDE, the screen dims out and goes completely black.
It's like a "nice" fadeout which takes about 1sec. After that the
computer seems unresponsive, can't do a thing. The error shows up with
the 2.6.22-14 kernel, so I have to use the 2.6.20-16 kernel from gusty -
then the problem does not show.

Now, what's most scary and odd with this problem is that if I login to
KDE, get the black screen and reboot, the screen dims out instantly
after the grub menu shows up - about 3 secs after system start!! Have to
start with the other kernel or another OS to even be able to see the
grub menu long enough to make a choice!
