Public bug reported:

This is a minor, but weird issue:

Using Hardy, daily version from Feb 15th...

I use "Slight" font hinting, and have noticed that with Grayscale or
Subpixel smoothing (I use Subpixel)

Using the Sans font, the letter combinations fi, fl, and ff make the "f"
character shrink vertically approximately 1 pixel... very weird

some example words (set Slight hinting and a smoothing mode before viewing):
 file
 flight
 difference
 fight

Example text:
fffff f
fif
fi f i

fi != f i
ff != f f
fl != f l

It doesn't occur in Open Office, because OO.org doesn't seem to follow
the system-wide font settings.

** Affects: freetype (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
