Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alsa-utils

Upon first booting the machine sound works as expected and normally.
After the machine is put to sleep, upon waking the machine sound does
not work. If I use the mute function key on my laptop keyboard (fn+F9)
and I mute then unmute, sound works as expected and normally. In
attempting to create a script to automate this process I discovered that
when 'amixer' is used to set the card to mute, it mutes as expected,
however it cannot be unmuted. Ie.

amixer -D set Master mute #mutes sound as expected
amixer -D set Master unmute #does not unmute sound.

This occurs whether I call amixer from the command line or whether I use
the gui under gnome.

Some details:
Gutsy, 2.6.22-14-generic
Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)
asla-base is 1.0.14-1ubuntu2
alsa-utils is 1.0.14-1ubuntu4

I will attach the following:
1. Output of lshw
2. Output of dmesg after fresh boot
3. Output of dmesg after waking from sleep

Please let me know if I can attach any other information that will help.

** Affects: alsa-utils (Ubuntu)
