I've the same problem with a HP dv5053ea laptop, after hibernating or
suspending (suspend to RAM or suspend to disk), the sound is off.
I have to run the command
sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart
to recover sound.
You can find attached the results of uname -a, sudo lspci -vv, sudo
lspci -vvn, sudo dmidecode
I'm running with Gutsy Gibbon and 2.6.22 kernel
