I am seeing this on hardy as well, with 2.0.0.11+2nobinonly-
0ubuntu0.7.10.
Attached is an strace of the process. The theme switch occurs at 17:41:44.
Searching for lstat64("/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc", 0xbfe8377c) will get you there.
