Public bug reported:

This bug was already reported as #1127928 (package linux-source-2.6.22)

The reported bug still occurs in Ubuntu version 7.10 with almost the
same error message reported.

This happens both when I run sane-find-scanner and also when launching
xsane.

The scanner device is Hewlett Packard C5100A. The device is OK, I have
tested it with sg_utils.

The aha1542 module works OK for the scsi CD-ROM drive and also OK for an
internal scsc disk drive (Quantum LPS).

The same C5100A scanner works fine on the same computer when running
under OS/2 (eCS) using sane of OS/2.

     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
