At last, succes. From
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.22/+bug/120316, I
issued the following solution:

In the boot menu
 1. Push F6 ( Other Options)
 2. remove: "quiet splash --"
 3. add: "break=top"
 4. Push Enter

Succes for installing Ubuntu JeOS from iso and from fysical CD:
$:~/qemu$ qemu -boot d -m 128 -hda ubuntu-jeos.img -cdrom
ubuntu-7.10-jeos-i386.iso
$:~/qemu$ qemu -boot d -m 128 -hda ubuntu-jeos.img -cdrom /dev/cdrom

For at least Ubuntu JeOS there seems to be a workaround.
