OK, my problem is (I think) solved, due to be pushed into upstream Debian
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=455994). Apparently, on
suspend from resume, the /dev/input subsystem assigns a new node to the
Synaptics touchpad, but X is still trying to talk to the old one. So, X falls
back to the CorePointer on /dev/psaux, which does not follow the Synaptics
configuration.

So, a fix for my problem is coming. Aleksander, you might be able to
fix your problem if your BIOS has a settings to disable 'legacy' support
for the trackpad... but note that, if you do that, you may completely
lose the trackpad after resuming from suspend, until you restart X.
