I tried this, too, but without success.

However, I am just considering that no one has mentioned the cable setup
- I use S-Video to Composite cables, since the TV has got only cinch
(one for audio, one for video). This cable combo worked fine on my
desktop with nVidia card.

By the way, I still have Windows XP on the notebook and using the
Intel's software I am not able to get colour output on TV as well. I
will try to do some more research.

With the intel X.org driver and xrandr, I can set majority of the
available NTSC/PAL formats - they all work, but only b&w.
