as we can see, the maintainer in debian just split the package more,
and make the user can make their choice more flexible. as to the
upstream, this version is also a bug fix one, I don't think it has
provided  any new feature. This version has been tested in sid, it
will not break anything whether you upgrade from previous version or
fresh install.
