Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. I can not confirm this on
Hardy with Thunderbird 2.0.0.9+nobinonly-0ubuntu2.
Is there any more information that you could provide to help track down
this issue? If you run Thunderbird from the terminal is there any error
out put? If you disable the new mail sound in you preferences does this
freeze up still occur?
