Felipe, thanks for your response. This may be a third party problem rather than Firefox. On a hunch, I changed to a USB keyboard/mouse and the problem went away. I have to conclude the Logitech wireless keyboard is not compatible with Linux. And frankly, I don't care because my system is performing beautifully.
