Hmm...

So if, for example, I use the Dell BIOS option to boot off the CD just
this once (and leave the hard disk as the default boot device), booted
the Live CD with the options 'ubiquity/reboot=true noprompt' then I can
actually do what I describe above, which is to enter all my install
options, press "Install," go have lunch, and come back to find my
computer booted into my newly installed system with the login prompt
waiting for me?

If so, that would probably do it for me, especially if there were
somewhere in the boot menu where I could find out those options so that
I don't have to remember them. So I guess if I'm the only person in the
universe to want this, then you may as well close this. But if you think
there might be some demand for it in general, leave it.

This option is only really useful on a computer whose BIOS has a one-
time boot menu. I'm not sure how common this is, other than that most or
all Dell laptops have such an option.
