I just chatted with a member of the Ubuntu kernel team. This does not
appear to be a kernel bug but rather an issue with the installer. I'm
reassigning this to the debian-installer package. In the meantime, the
output of 'ifconfig' and your /var/log/syslog file might be interesting
to see. Thanks.
