Indeed, there isn't a whole lot we can do about this. This error is very
early on in the installer, and any code we inserted to try to handle it
more gracefully might well itself be corrupted by the same problem!
You should be able to install pretty much as much memory as you like.
There are of course upper limits but on a 64-bit system they're a long
way off.
