This is actually a problem with Simpleviewer and now Gwenview. If you
check out the Simpleviewer download that you need to get since it
doesn't come with Kubuntu/Ubuntu, you will see the index.html file is
hardcoed with this line:
index.html:<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
charset=iso-8859-1" />
This is what is causing your problem. An easy fix for this is to locate
this file in the simpleviewer directory on your system and change that
to the setting you prefer. I don't know the outcome of such a task, but
it is worth a try. If you want to get more information, you can also
check out the simpleviewer website.
