You might be right.

However, what happened was that I saw a bug about OO crashing hard and
freezing X totally.

I submitted such a bug a while ago myself and went to great lengths to get
it resolved, but was never acknowledged (not on LP and not in IRC).

For me, that bug was a real time-looser and showstopper. Entire machine
freezing and loosing lots of unsaved changes is what I was used to when
having Redmond's OS, but I switched to Linux and now I was experiencing
it again and that made me very unhappy. And the lack of attention to the
difficult to reproduce problem made me even more disappointed.

Now I saw someone else reporting that same bug. And I jumped at it by
searching trough the bug database and link those bugs together, so that
hopefuylly a more complete picture would arise. Altough it strikes few
users, it strikes them hard !

So that's why I reopened this bug. Maybe that was wrong. So be it.
Thanks for the correction, in that case!

The reason I stumbled upon this bug and the OO bug, was because on my 4GB
system, memory is full after about 24 hrs and applications start to get
the oomkiller treatment. And the machine becomes totally unresponsive for
ten minutes and then suddenly moves again. (Like Windoze did so many
times and that made me go away from Windoze).

So, I was searching for Xorg and memory leaks. And I still can't find an
answer; it almost certainly has to do with nvidia, but it can't have to
do with compiz, it's not running in my KDE sessions.

So, I am still hunting for an answer !

Cheers,
ace
