I can confirm this one on hardy alpha 5 kde4 i386 installer. Installing on a clean partition without a partition table only offers you the possibility to create a new partition table. After doing this the disk is NOT reloaded and the new partition table is not written to disk. Because when you move a step forward, and back to partitioning again where disk is scanned again there is still no partition table.
